Three people, three ways to buy the same arena ticket. Only one of them got in
Same show, same minute. One on a desktop, one on the app, one with three friends helping. The result is not the one you would guess.
Tickets opened at noon on Saturday. Three of us went in at the same moment: A on a desktop with a wired connection, B on the mobile app, C with three friends all trying at once.
A had a third-tier seat at 12 minutes 40 seconds. B was queued at position 8,300 and got the back row. C’s three friends all stayed stuck on the queue page.
It was not about connection speed
None of them had slow internet. The difference was payment. A had saved a card on the ticketing platform beforehand and went from seat selection to payment in 40 seconds. B typed a card number by hand, got bounced to an SMS verification, and came back to find the seats released.
Platforms usually hold a seat for five to eight minutes, and they shorten that for high-demand shows. The time it takes to type a card number is, in practice, the seat.

One more finding: having three friends try does not help. The same account queueing on multiple devices is flagged as a duplicate and only one number is kept. It is in the platform’s help page, and nobody reads the help page.
